The Marchington Singers is a diverse group of people with widely differing tastes in music. Consequently, we like to sing a variety of musical styles and genres so that there is something for everyone, members and audiences alike.
Over the years we have built up a broad repertoire of songs and music from across the decades, and we are constantly adding new pieces and taking on new challenges.
Our repertoire ranges from 4-part choral and church music through to light popular classics, songs from the world of entertainment and modern pop tunes. It incorporates folk songs, music from other countries and cultures, sea shanties and light jazz, as well as more challenging works such as Missa Katherina by Jacob de Haan, a mass for choir, soprano, and wind band
At Christmas, as well as enjoying traditional and modern songs and carols, we usually perform a cantata or similar as part of our Christmas concert. Recent works have included A Christmas Carol by Deborah McAndrew & Ashley Thompson, based on the novella by Charles Dickens, and The Memory of Stars, a Song Cycle by Robat Arwyn.
